Word of Inspiration: The Peace that Surpasses Understanding

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 (NKJV)

There are many people going through some terrible things during this Thanksgiving, but God does offer us a peace that surpasses all understanding. What does that mean? It means that in spite of all our circumstances, we will know in our hearts that we will survive this and we'll be okay--that we won't go through it alone. It doesn't mean that we won't hurt or feel lonely, but it does mean that we can be comforted through it, given strength to survive it, and the intensity of the pain can ease a bit even if it doesn't completely go away. It's when others shake their heads and say, "I don't know how you're enduring it." It surpasses the understanding of the human mind. This is when God provides those small miracles inside us--pouring healing balm on our hearts--with His word.
