New Blog Changes & Updates

Personal Updates
I'm still writing and my agent is submitting proposals to editors. Over the last few months I did have a manuscript that made it to committee level, but then it was rejected. The good news is I've had a few requests for completes so my work is still circulating editors' desks.

I just finished my seventh manuscript, an 1810 South Carolina historical set in Hartsville, SC. Rather than start on a new manuscript right away, I decided to lengthen an 1835 historical so it will be marketable to more publishers. I have several ideas for more books. All I need is more writing time. Isn't that what every writer says?

Blog Changes
If you scroll down this blog, you'll notice several changes. I've taken off the labels and I've changed the format to include categorized headings of previous posts in a scroll down menu format. The reason I did this is because if you click on a label such as editing, you might find posts on POV, characterization, dialogue tags, grammar, etc. I didn't think it was specific enough. And readers would have to scroll down through the entire posts to find what they are looking for. Hopefully, this format will be easier and more specific. If not, feel free to let me know and I can always switch back to labeling.

Most posts will be broken down under three headings: Writing, historical resources, and Carolina history. Occasionally, I'll post personal writing news.

New Blog Schedule
I've decided to try a different blog schedule because I was having trouble keeping up with my weekend blogs due to summer vacations and weekend travels. Since life will not slow down, I thought changing my schedule again might help. Therefore, I plan to post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The content will be the same.

Today in Carolina History
I've created a new blog called Today in Carolina History. It's different from my other blogs in that I don't have to "write" anything. I'm simply listing significant events that take place on each day in the Carolinas throughout history so I can set it as a feed to a new widget I created. Check it out here on my blog, scroll down on the right until you find the square graphic that says Today in Carolina History. If you like it and think it would be a neat addition to your blog or website, all you have to do is copy the code and embed it into your webpages.

Come back on Wednesday for an interview with author M.L. Tyndall, her new Regency book, The Falcon and the Sparrow, is out and it is the first in a new series. I'll hold a contest and one blessed winner will receive a free copy!

I wish you all the best with getting your novels placed in the hands of a publisher, Jennifer.

I ordered Marylu's new book and can't wait to read it. 'The Falcon and the Sparrow' is the Book of the Month on Stepping Stones Magazine for Writers, August issue.
