Our Disney World Vacation!

I wanted to share some of our experiences at Disney World this summer. In June we visited Epcott, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, and Sea World. My daughter took two friends with her and we had a blast. If you've never been to Disney, you don't want to miss the opportunity of a lifetime.

Animal Kingdom
This is a picture of the new Mount Everest roller coaster ride. We loved it. You go up inside the mountain to what looks like the end of a broken track. Then the coaster falls backward inside the cave again and the abominal snowman comes after you. It's a fast and thrilling ride. We rode it several times. My daughter refused to ride it, but I hope she'll get her nerve up to ride it if we ever get a chance to go back.

There were other rides in Animal Kingdom. The dinosaur ride was enough to scare most adults. The dinosaurs seemed very real and it was so dark inside as you ride in the jungle-like vehicles. It was loud and it would have been too much of a sensory overload for my daughter. I'm glad we didn't let her ride it. If you have kids that are easily scared, I wouldn't recommend them ride it.

The Rainforest Cafe is a great restuarant inside Animal Kingdom. I try not to think of this experience. Here we lost my daughter for a good 10-15 minutes. I nearly panicked. They have two entrances. One that leads out of the park into the parking lot, and another that leads back into the park, but you have to use your tickets to get back in. I feared she went out of one of those exits looking for me. I was cold and told them I wanted to go outside in the sun to warm up. I didn't know she had followed behind me and her dad let her. Long story short, my husband found her wandering around in circles at the bar. We don't know why she was over there. We never go to the bar. I wouldn't let her out of my sight after that. She kept calm, but when her dad found her, she burst into tears. She felt like I had left her. I felt awful.

That's my daughter in the photo above the entrance to Rainforest Cafe. She loves the food and the atmosphere there. They have all kinds of forest animals such as gorillas, elephants, alligators, butterfies, lions, etc. Every thirty minutes they have the sound of thunder and lightening. They also have huge fish tanks and a small waterfall.

Typhoon Lagoon
This was our third trip to Disney for my husband and I (our honeymoon was here), but our first time at Typhoon Lagoon. We decided it was the best waterpark in the world. The waves in the wave pool are six feet and the girls loved riding those waves. The park has real sand like at the beach. The waterslides were really unique and different. We didn't want to leave.

My next blog will be on Epcott and Magic Kingdom.

Those are good pictures!

They have a Rainforest Cafe in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand. Pretty cool place. I remember the thunder and lightning there too!

Great pictures, Jenn. I have never been to Disney. I would love to go. I'm glad you had a great time.
I couldn't find my daughter at the Washington DC zoo one time when she was about 8. I still remember the feeling.....

Hey this is cool. I've been to the Rainforest Cafe in Minneapolis, Disneyland, and Las Vegas. But I haven't been to all those great places in Florida. I went to Disneyworld when I was 12. All they had was the Magic Kingdom. We had so much fun back then that I do want to go again someday. My kids are almost all grown and have been to Disneyland a few times in their lives.

You struck a memory in me with your daughter's tears. Several years ago, I had to drive through a blizzard with 2 of my boys in the car. We were going to my step-grandma's funeral in Orem, UT. The drive took over 12 hours instead of 8. Anyway, I'd worked all day and had to drive all night. On arrival I took the wrong exit. I was so exhausted and lost. My dad came to find me. I held it together the entire time. Until my daddy showed up:-) I couldn't hold back the tears.
We went right to my aunt's and then the funeral. I didn't get any sleep until later that afternoon. So I totally understand your little one's feelings:-)

I wish I'd mentioned this above - it was totally insensitive that I over looked when you couldn't find your daughter. So Sorry!

Jenn, this is my all time worst fear. I get in Terminator mode when we are in a store. Thank the Lord she was close by and you found her!
